A subspecialty of Internal Medicine, Rheumatology is primarily related to the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and autoimmune disease. The Rheumatology Department at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) is committed to delivering the most advanced and rationally based care to patients, and to the enhancement of new discoveries related to diagnosis and treatment. The physicians and researchers compromising the faculty of the Rheumatology Section are pioneers in their field and enjoy regional and national recognition.
The Department provides a multidisciplinary setting for patient care--including physician and nursing services, diagnostic and therapeutic radiology, and physical and occupational therapy. Numerous reputed consulting physicians and surgeons--covering the entire spectrum of contemporary medicine--are readily available if needed.

Of particular importance to our patients is the fact that scientific advances made throughout the department are readily and regularly available for translation into patient care.

We offer consultative and enduring care for patients with regional musculoskeletal disorders such as shoulder pain, hip pain, and knee pain. Preoperative evaluation and recommendations for patients considering joint replacement and arthritis-related reconstructive surgeries are also provided.
