Radiation Oncology

With an aim to provide personalised and advanced cancer care, The Department of Radiation Oncology is suitably equipped for patients looking to get world-class cancer treatment. It is the combination of two pioneers in radiation oncology equipment – Elekta and BrainLab that joined their hands to deliver the best care possible. The department combines clinical expertise, kind-hearted care, and next-gen radiation therapies to deliver the safest, result-oriented treatments for cancer and benign tumours. The department has won the coveted Frost and Sullivan Award for technological innovation in 2015. It also has the privilege to become the first paperless department in India using MOSAIQ workflow.

The Radiation Oncology has become a centre of excellence both nationally and globally due to its constant quest for incorporating newer technologies and taking innovative steps towards the betterment of cancer patients.  The department has served and treated more than 1500 patients over the last 3 years and more than 150 stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery cases done.

Our radiation oncology services include:

• Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT)
• Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT)
• Breathhold 4 D treatments (ABC device)

Our physicians at the department are some of the most acknowledged and skilled radiation oncologists in the country who strive to deliver unprecedented cancer care. Being a full-fledged medical centre, our physicians specialize in specific types of cancer. These radiation oncologists work closely with medical oncology and surgical oncology colleagues that specialize in the same disease, and together, they develop the evidence-based resource appropriate treatment plan for each patient. The ability to have a thoughtful and well-coordinated treatment plan developed jointly by radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and surgical oncologists sets FMRI a way ahead from other Cancer Centres and has affirmative impacts on the quality of care provided.

We take a multi-disciplinary approach towards cancer treatment by combining radiation therapy with other cancer treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy. Tumor board based treatment decision is the key to clinical practice. This helps us ensure the most optimal treatment for our cancer patients.
