Signature Programmes

At the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, we carry out two specialized in-patient signature programmes:

Special Programmes

School Mental Health Programme
  • The steady increase in the identification of psychological difficulties faced by school children shows us the need to ensure their psychosocial well-being through an active collaboration between schools and mental health practitioners. Therefore, we must make sure that we identify, evaluate and intervene when problems related to developmental delays, academic difficulties, peer pressure self-esteem and emotional functioning arise.
  • Here, we conduct interactive talks and workshops for students, teachers and parents, designed to address concerns around child and adolescent mental health. These workshops are geared towards enabling positive parenting, effective teaching and providing stronger coping skills to children and adolescents. Some of our previous workshops have been on topics such as effective classroom management, identification and intervention of children with psychological disorders and life-skills training with students. As a part of this initiative, we run two specialized programmes:
    • The Fortis Prosocial Peer Moderator Programme – the Fortis Prosocial Peer Moderator Programme is a peer training programme designed to impart life skills education to students. The programme utilizes intensive and interactive workshops – training students from schools in an experiential learning format. These students then become positive role models for their peers so as to help other children learn healthier forms of behavior. The Prosocial Peer Moderator Programme encompasses the following five modules:
      • Study and Exam Skills
      • Aggression Management
      • Risk Behaviour Management
      • Media Literacy
      • Gender Sensitization
    • The Fortis School Counsellor Forum – The Fortis School Counsellor Forum provides a platform for practicing school counsellors to come together and voice their opinions, learn from the experiences of others and remain apprised of the latest advancements in the field.
