Immunology

Overview

Our immunology experts at the Department of Immunology have exceptional mastery in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a range of immunological disorders such as autoimmune disease, immunodeficiency, immunosuppression, neuro-immunology, HIV, allergy and anaphylaxis.

The Department of Immunology works collaboratively with the Departments of Rheumatology, Neurology, ENT and Infectious Diseases at Fortis Memorial Research Institute to deliver one-stop healthcare for all related disorders. As immune response and consequent inflammation form the base of many immunological conditions, the department closely investigates these processes to discover new avenues for the treatment of immune disorders.

Backed by state-of-the-art technological edge, our experts perform skin testing to aeroallergens and food allergens, skin biopsies, limited patch testing, computerized spirometry, oximetry, intravenous infusions, methacholine challenge testing, and rhinolaryngoscopy. Our interdisciplinary approach promotes enhanced collaboration and the productive transfer of results into new and effective treatments.

Our immunology services include the assessment and treatment of patients with conditions such as:

  • Suspected immunodeficiency
  • Antibody deficiency e.g. Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID)

Moreover, as part of a world-class hospital, we can undertake latest diagnostic testing that most allergy practices cannot. Interventions such as food and drug desensitisations and challenges carry risks that FMRI is well-equipped to manage—and the patient benefits can be noteworthy.
